Cymraeg Campus Siarter Iaith

                  Cymraeg Campus Siarter Iaith

As a school, we have achieved the 'Gwobr Efyd, Bronze Award, Cymraeg Campus Siarter Iaith (Bronze Award, Welsh charter) which is an award system to promote the use of welsh language and schools welsh ethos.

We have worked really hard and completed all ten targets! We are currently working to continue maintaining our Bronze award level.

Our Criw Cymraeg are continuing to ensure that the targets on our whole school display which is by the hall are still being achieved to a good standard.

Helpwr Heddiw

Each class has 2 different Helpwr Heddiw’s everyday and it is their responsibility to speak Welsh, deliver the Helpwr Heddiw session to the children. They are responsible for preparing the fruit and milk ready and ask the children in Welsh what they would like. They also have to complete some very important jobs and messages in Welsh, e.g. taking the register down to Mrs Owen, conversing in Welsh and be excellent role models, leading the singing, actions, games and helping to tell everyone about certain times of the day and when to tidy up.

Criw Cymraeg

Within our school we have developed a 'Criw Cymraeg'

Our Criw Cymraeg have a very important job. It is their job to promote incidental Welsh and a Welsh ethos in our school.

Our Criw Cymraeg is made up of some of our Year 2 pupils. We meet once every half term and decide on a Phrase of the fortnight every 2 weeks.

                                        'Ymadrodd y penwythnos.'

                                         Phrase of the fortnight.

They help to teach these phrases in the weekly Welsh assembly. They display posters around the school and help to set challenges and competitions for the pupils to enter.

Each week we hold a Welsh assembly. During this the Criw help with the singing and actions. They then decide on the 'Canwr Gwych'  (Super Singer) and they are awarded a 'Canwr Gwych' token to go towards their teams house points. The Criw help the assembly by leading the Welsh prayer and support good listening to stories and poems. We also learn lots of Welsh songs and hymns.

Y Ddraig Goch Certificates are awarded to the Welsh speakers of the week from each class. We really enjoy celebrating these achievements. Llongyfarchiadau!

An award is given to the member of staff that the children have heard and have seen trying really hard to use and promote Welsh.
