Welcome to Nursery - Dosbarth Cyw
Autumn Term 1
This half term we have welcomed many new families into our school community. We welcome you all with open arms!
In Nursery - Dosbarth Cyw, we have been learning so much. Most importantly we have been making lots of new friends.
We have been developing our social skills, independence skills and learning lots of new things. Our theme has been 'All About ME!' and transitioning into school, we have loved listening to lots of new literature, some of the books we have enjoyed are;
Hooray it's Our First Day
Starting School
This is Our House
We're Going on a Leaf Hunt
We're Going on a Pumpkin Hunt
and so many more stories.
During this half term we have celebrated many different things. We have celebrated many personal achievements and milestones, birthdays, Fairtrade Fortnight, Harvest and Halloween.
Autumn Term 2
Well, what another fabulous half term we had in Nursery, our overarching Area of Learning Experience (AoLE) for this half term was Science and Technology, we explored this AoLE through focusing on a Nursery Rhyme each week, through each Nursery Rhyme we delved into science based activities and became little scientists. We carried out many experiments. Though Science and Technology was our overarching topic using cross curricular approaches we learnt lots of new things, The children in Nursery explored and learnt a new sound each week, many children in Dosbarth Cyw now recognise and can form 'm,a,s,t,d' using multisensory methods. The exploration of mathematical resources have been explored and the children have loved using Numicon resources to help them build a strong understanding of early numbers and number concepts.
We loved celebrating Christmas in Nursery, we took part in 'The Nativity', it was brilliant seeing all of the parents so proud, many chuckles were had (as well as some tears of proudness). Nursery Enterprise sale raised an amount of £140.00 which will be spent on new resources for our outside provision and our sensory room.
We follow the Curriculum for Wales. The Curriculum for Wales promotes all learners to become ambitious, independent, ethically informed citizens who are healthy and confident. The Curriculum for Wales has 'Four Purposes' the curriculum is broad and balanced encapsulating learners of all ages and abilities.
The Four Purposes:
Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives.
Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work.
Ethical, informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world.
Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
We have six Areas of Learning Experiences (AoLE):
Language, Literacy and Communication
Mathematics and Numeracy
Health and Well-being
Expressive Arts
Science and Technology
Humanities
All of the above Areas of Learning are intertwined through one another, embedding all AoLE's for our learners to become independent and ready to learn.
In Nursery we incorporate learning our Rights into everything we do. We discuss our Rights and take part in many activities which promotes us learning and understanding our Rights. We are having lots of fun learning our Rights song at the moment.
